Who They Are
About CenCal
Overview
CenCal Health is a publicly funded, locally operated health plan serving Medi-Cal members in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Established in 1983 as the Santa Barbara Regional Health Authority, CenCal is one of California's original County Organized Health Systems and is governed by a public commission of county supervisors, providers, and community members. As the sole Medi-Cal plan in its two counties, CenCal contracts deeply with regional FQHCs, hospitals, behavioral health providers, and community-based organizations, and is an active operator of CalAIM Enhanced Care Management and Community Supports programs across the Central Coast.
Mission
"To improve the health and well-being of our members through accessible, high-quality, and equitable care."
As a public, locally governed plan rather than a national managed care organization, CenCal's strategic priorities are set by a commission that answers to the same communities its members live in.
